Getting there...Hike #12, 13, & 14

Yeah yeah yeah....I'm not the greatest at updating my blog. I swear I'm going to get better at this. At the very least, here's a quick recap of our last three hikes....that way if anyone is actually following along, you know that we still haven't given up on this.

Hike #12: Sunset hikes are WAY cooler than early morning hikes. Both literally and figuratively. We made this hike happen after work one day and it was so worth it. I got stressed out when we got there after 4:30 pm and realized we would have to go pretty quickly....and I wouldn't be able to stop and take all the photos that I wanted. (I still managed to snag this one though!) Almost any trailhead says its only open from sunrise to sunset and I thought they were going to lock our car in if we didn't get back in time. Which Kevin found so hilarious. My stress is funny to him? HAHA. But as it turns out, hiking at sunset is an amazing experience. If only we didn't have day jobs and we could do this more often!

Location: McDowell Mountain Sonoran Preserve

Trail: Brown's Ranch Trailhead

Distance: 4.3 miles

Hike #13 & #14: In an effort to just kill this goal, we planned to do 3 hikes in one day. Then I somehow ended up running 8 miles the day before (yeah. me. 8 miles!) so needless to say, I was a bit drained already. So whatever, we still got 2 hikes down in one day! The first one was short and easy....the second one was....not. No, I'm kidding. It was easy when you haven't over extended yourself. Go on any other day when you're well rested and ready to climb a steep slope, you'll be fine! But both of these trails had really great views of downtown Phoenix and they're both easy to get to!

Location: North Mountain

Trail: Maxine Lakin Nature Trail & Shaw Butte Trail

Distance: 1.5 and 4.7 miles
